Connecticut is a New England state located in the upper Northeast portion of the United States. Considered to be part of the New York Metropolitan area, Connecticut boarders the Long Island sound to the south and the state of Massachusetts to the North. There are plenty of activities for children in Connecticut, which makes it a family friendly state.

Playtime Village

Playtime Village is an indoor activity center that allows children to dress up and pretend. Activity centers include a market, mayor's house, and school and hobby center. Playtime Village offers a cafeteria that serves healthy snacks and a special baby room for toddlers to play safely. Socks are required and children are allowed to explore alone. Parents can participate with their child or enjoy the lobby. Playtime Village is a safe environment for children of all ages. It is open seven days a week and is available for birthday parties or other special events

The Great Escape

The Great Escape is a four-level family entertainment center that offers a 60 foot slide and an arcade geared toward children 12 and under. They offer one- to two-hour birthday parties and provide each guest with drinks and pizza. Children earn tickets as they play games in the arcade, and they can redeemed tickets for prizes. The Great Escape is open seven days a week.

Gillette Castle

The Gillette Castle is a place to take children ages three and up in East Haddam, Connecticut. The park has three separate facilities to explore; the Dinosaur, Fort Trumbull and Gillette Castle State Parks. Activities include hiking, picnic facilities and camping. Hours of operation are from 8 a.m. until sunset daily and admission is free.

The Dudley Farm

The Dudley Farm is a working farm where children can learn about how animals are raised and cared for. The farm includes a gristmill where children can see how flour is made. There is also a tannery that allows children to view hides being tanned and made into leather goods. Tours of the Dudley house are available. The Dudley Farm is open Monday through Saturday.
