Water parks are popular choices for family-style getaways and holidays. Hotels with indoor water parks offer families what everyone is looking for: lots of things to do and a nice place to stay. Although the water parks are all indoors, they provide opportunities for year-round, all-day activity and exercise. After a full day of water fun, you can relax in a comfortable room and enjoy the amenities. Ohio has several choices when it comes to such family-pleasing entertainment.

Castaway Bay at Cedar Point

Not only is Cedar Point home to a world-class amusement park, it also has an indoor water park. The Castaway Bay at Cedar Point hotel offer 237 rooms and suites, as well as "a day spa, fitness center," arcade, restaurants and shops and, if that weren't enough, there's a marina next door. Castaway Bay features a Caribbean theme that will make you feel like you've reached your "island paradise." Its 38,000-square-foot water park is surrounded by palm trees and huts and features inland lagoons. There's some type of water fun for everyone with several tube slides, a wave pool, a toddler's tide pool, and the family funhouse.

Fort Rapids Waterpark Resort

Fort Rapids Waterpark Resort offers everything under one roof. The indoor water park features 800,000 gallons and 60,000 square feet of water fun for everyone, with 12 different water rides, a play tower, an activity pool, and a 1,000-gallon tipping bucket. After a day at the water park, have some more fun at the resort's Gold Rush Arcade or enjoy a meal at the Branding Iron Grille. Then, spend a night in one of its 277 guest rooms or 60 suites. Fort Rapids Waterpark Resort is just minutes away from Port Columbus International Airport, Easton Town Center, and downtown Columbus.

Great Wolf Lodge

Great Wolf Lodge has two locations in Ohio, one in Sandusky and one in Mason. Both offer a full-sized indoor water park "where it is always 84 degrees," with the convenience of an adjacent hotel. They both have a Fort Mackenzie, a "four-story interactive treehouse water fort" with fun for the whole family. Great Wolf Lodge, Sandusky also has Big Foot Pass, a water-based agility course for kids. The one in Mason has MagiQuest, a "live-action adventure game" where the family, armed with "high-tech wands," must "solve magical challenges through the resort to gain powers and move to higher levels of the game." Both resorts have their own restaurants, arcades, fitness centers and spas. The one is Sandusky is just minutes away from Cedar Point; the one in Mason is a short drive from Kings Island.

Kalahari Ohio

Kalahari, in Sandusky, Ohio, is part of the Kalahari chain of water parks. It bills itself as "America's largest indoor water park." You can have your "own private indoor cabana" at the water park. Each cabana comes with its own "security safe, refrigerator, chaise lounges and table." While your kids surf in the "five-foot ocean-like waves" in the FlowRiders area of the water park, or splash around in the 12,000 square foot wavepool, you can work on your tan under the "Texlon transparent roof." After all the fun and games in the water park, you can go shopping, get a massage, or play miniature golf before settling down for the night in one their many rooms or suites. Amenities include free wireless Internet in each room and available laundry facilities. Hotel packages include admission to the waterpark.
