Gado Gado
Gado Gado Restaurant and Bar sits on the edge of the Indian Ocean, next door to a Hindu temple, a true Bali "destination." Gado Gado serves European fusion with dishes like butterfish in curry crust and kaffir lime, sharing space with grilled rouleau of chicken with green asparagus, tomato confit, parmesan and tarragon mayonnaise. It offers a great wine list and large selection of champagnes as well as the obligatory humidor for fine cigars. For something sweet, try the rhubarb milkshake with marinated strawberries and nuts. Or just slide right off your diet and into its signature chocolate melted cake. Reservations are recommended.

Made's Warung
Made's Warung, established in 1969, is an old favorite in a new location. The Seminyak Made's is quieter and more spacious than its earlier incarnation in Kuta but still very casual and usually crowded. "Warung" means a local café or small restaurant. Eat indigenous dishes here and fill up cheaply. A splurge at dinner might be shabu shabu for four---a tableside fondue with choices of seafood, meats, fresh vegetables and mushrooms cooked with glass noodles in broth. Good sates, curries, bubur ayam---a rice porridge with chicken---and Indonesian specialties are offered. Made's does not take reservations, but everyone is friendly, including the diners who may share your table and the waiters who can be really busy and somewhat slow.

Ku De Ta
Ku De Ta is as much an event as a restaurant. On the beach and camera-ready, it serves European fusion---western-influenced local dishes imaginatively presented. Brunch might include baked scones, salmon croissants, banana bread, eggs, watermelon juice, tropical fruit smoothies---even Coco Puffs for the kids. Caviar, oysters, sashimi and kid rice cones also are offered. For lunch, try fresh fish or a bento box. At dinner there's sweet corn soup and lobster and tuna tartare. Desserts are plainly sinful with brulees, chocolate tarts, mango parfait and a cheeseboard. Extensive wine list, tropical cocktails and "kidtails," plus a nice selection of Cuban cigars, are available. Reservations are recommended.
