Northwestern Ontario lies northwest of Lake Superior and west of the Hudson Bay in Canada and shares a border with Minnesota and Manitoba. Andy Lake Resort is the only accommodation on the shores of said waterway and provides a variety of all-season activities, including fishing for walleye and trout, ATV tours of the area and relaxing in front of a fireplace or in a hot tub. The resort offers deluxe cottages complete with modern amenities in a wooded setting, each with a microwave, refrigerator, kitchenette and utensils and a charcoal barbecue. Each cottage also has distinct amenities, allowing guests to choose from indoor and outdoor hot tubs, fireplaces and even their very own private beach. Other activities include hiking, wildlife photography, swimming, canoeing, bird watching, volleyball, badminton, boating and water skiing. Fireside Lodge

Fireside Lodge is the only resort that sits on Little Vermilion Lake, which is known for its abundance of fish and wildlife. Built in 1904, the lodge has modern comforts and amenities in its cabins such as sitting areas and living rooms, kitchenettes, microwaves, refrigerators, dining areas, screened-in porches, fireplaces and contemporary bathroom facilities. Resort games and facilities include pool tables and ping pong tables as well as board games and puzzles. The resort has a dining room where guests can enjoy a meal with its full breakfast and picnic or shore lunches. Shore lunches include freshly caught fish, side dishes and vegetables. The staff also serves dinner with special attention to dietary preferences and will pack up the meal for you to eat privately in your room. The resort offers fishing aficionados a catch-and-release program to protect the resources.

Harris Hills Resort

Harris Hills Resort sits on the shores of Lake of the Woods and offers a drive-in option for guests. The resort, which is 18 miles from the U.S. border at Baudette, Minnesota, and three hours from Winnipeg, is open year round and offers vacation packages. Lake view cabin services and facilities include wireless Internet access, air conditioning and heating, private deck and picnic table, fire pit, refrigerator, TV, kitchenette and propane LP barbecue. The lodge also provides meals. On-site activities and facilities include fishing, hunting, nature sightseeing and bird-watching, children's playground, water skiing, knee boarding and ecotourism adventures. Guests can also rent a boat or dock their own boat at the marina. The resort also has campgrounds for RVs and tents with electricity and water, picnic tables and fire pits.
