Organic & Low Salt Restaurants in Chicago

Despite its reputation as a high-calorie cheese dog kind of town, Chicago has a wide array of organic and low-salt restaurants that cater to the healthy eater. After a long hike in one of the Windy City's scenic parks, visitors may enjoy vegan, vegetarian and raw food restaurants as well as more omnivorous eateries that subscribe to the "slow food" movement.

Drew's Eatery

Based in Lincoln Park, this eco-friendly establishment serves dishes with local, organic and natural ingredients. Sandwiches include a healthy version of an Italian beef sandwich (grain-fed beef with no nitrates or antibiotics), a "Green Dog" (fresh spinach and feta cheese in an organic & turkey sausage) and a vegan Polish kielbasa. For dessert, treat yourself to one of Drew's specialty sundaes such as the "Italian Waffle Bowl" (ice cream drenched with a shot of espresso and topped with powdered sugar).
