Bellevue is located 10 miles east of Seattle across Lake Washington, and it has a thriving downtown district with high-rise luxury condominiums and upscale shops. The city maintains 100 parks, including lakefront beaches and 50 miles of nature trails, according to the city's website. Visitors to the Bellevue area have many recreational opportunities and several international dining options across the city, including popular Thai restaurants located in the downtown area.

Family owned and operated since 1981, Thai Kitchen works to "ensure the highest quality and freshness" of the dishes served, according to the restaurant's website. Dinner combinations are available at a fixed price per person, with entrees and an extensive menu of 76 offerings. Appetizers include traditional favorites, such as crab delight, satay and Thai-style BBQ pork, and soups and salads are also available to start a meal. Entrees range from Bangkok chicken to Thai-style roasted pork to Phad Woon Sen, roasted duck and nine styles of curries. Noodle and rice dishes are plentiful, and seafood dishes include rainbow trout and shrimp. Thai Kitchen is located near Bellevue Highlands Park at the intersection of NE 20th Street and 140th Avenue NE.

Chantanee Thai Restaurant and Bar is located downtown near Bellevue Square and eight blocks east of Lake Washington. Parking is free on weekday nights and weekends when dining at Chantanee. Happy hour specials are featured daily. Stop in for a quick lunch combination or a dish from a limited menu, and add a "lunchtime libation," which is lighter on alcohol than other Chantanee cocktails. With 133 menu items, Chantanee offers an extensive selection of dishes made in various cooking styles, such as steamed, sizzling, barbecue, wok-fried and hot-and-spicy. Featured prominently on the menu are dishes with duck, lamb and seafood, including halibut and softshell crab. Chantanee Thai Restaurant and Bar is located on 108th Avenue NE between Fourth and Eighth streets, across from city hall.

Thai Grill is a casual, family owned restaurant located downtown that offers delivery and takeout orders as well as dine-in options. A lunch special combination plate is offered on weekdays and includes soup, phad Thai, jasmine rice and a choice of five entrees with chicken or tofu. House specialties on the restaurant's full menu include Special Thai Grill Soup and Thai Grill Seafood Special with scallops, crab, salmon, mussels, squid and prawns. Other unique entrees include crab fried rice, mussel curry, sweet and sour trout and Massaman curry with prawns or salmon. Thai Grill is located two blocks west of Interstate 405 at the intersection of Northeast 8th Street and 108th Avenue. Clyde Beach Park is one mile west of the restaurant.
