East Hartford is a suburb of Hartford, the capital of Connecticut often referred to as the "Insurance Capital of the World." A city rich in cultural heritage and historical landmarks, East Hartford also has 28 public parks and recreation facilities that offer scenic hiking trails, boat and canoe launches on the Connecticut River, as well as an 18-hole public golf course. Marco Polo Restaurant

Located near Wickham Park, Marco Polo Restaurant offers a wide variety of Italian and other favorites on its extensive menu. Appetizers include clams on the half-shell--by the half-dozen or dozen, shrimp cocktail, Buffalo wings and zuppa di clams--baby clams sauteed with olive oil, white wine and marinara sauce. Entree selections include baked manicotti, eggplant parmigiana, mussels and clams pomodore, veal Florentine and New York sirloin pizzaiola, as well as a large selection of specialty pizzas, salads, soups, burgers, grinders and sandwiches. Capa di Roma

Owned by a local Italian family, Capa di Roma offers guests authentic Italian cuisine. Spaghetti marinara, angel hair carbonara, spinach ravioli, baked lasagna, penne a la vodka, veal piccata, chicken alfredo and shrimp fra diavalo are among the wide selection of freshly prepared Italian dishes available on the menu. Capa di Roma also offers a large selection of brick-oven, hand-tossed pizzas in four different sizes, as well as a variety of calzones and 12- or 16-inch giant grinder sandwiches. Takeout is available and gift certificates can be purchased on its website. Capa di Roma is open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday.
