Golf Courses in Phoenix, Arizona

The Phoenix metropolitan area includes Glendale, Scottsdale, Tempe and Mesa, and the area is home to dozens of world-class golf courses that are open to the public. Phoenix itself features some of Arizona's more upscale courses in a variety of settings---from traditional desert landscapes to lush, pine tree-lined fairways. Deals can be found in the Valley of the Sun, both in twilight hours and if you're willing to play during the hottest months of the year.

‪Legacy Golf Resort‬‎

Legacy Golf Resort was built on a former 7,500-acre ranch, and the original grain silos, built in 1902, still line the 18th fairway. The course, a former host site of a PGA Tour event, features native desert plants and trees, elevated and well-protected greens that are large and undulating, and a layout that gets more challenging as you go, with water coming into play on several holes on the back nine. Depending on tee selection, the par-71 course plays between 5,958 yards and 6,908 yards. Look for bargain rates from June through August, and save some money the rest of the year by booking your tee time after noon.

‪Raven Golf Club‬ at South Mountain

Raven Golf Club at South Mountain is an oasis in the desert, a lush and pine tree-lined course that's full of grasslands. Nearly 6,000 Georgia pine trees were brought in during the course's construction to provide a non-traditional desert course, with tree-lined fairways that require accuracy off the tee. The course has been the host site of the Arizona Stroke Play Championship since 1996 and is the official home course of Major League Baseball's Arizona Diamondbacks. Raven is a par-72 that plays between 6,264 and 7,078 yards, depending on tee selection. For the best rates, book a twilight tee time from March through April or during the month of May.

Foothills Golf Club is a par-72, links-style course that plays between 5,441 and 6,968 yards, depending on tee selection. Discounts are available for Eagle Card members. ‪Wild Fire Golf Course‬‎

Wild Fire Golf Club offers two 18-hole courses designed by golf greats Arnold Palmer and Nick Faldo and surrounded by native vegetation, including giant saguaro cacti. The Palmer Signature Course features wide fairways that allow even errant shots to remain in play and large, undulating greens that are a staple of Palmer-designer courses. The par-72 Palmer course plays from 4,915 to 7,145 yards, depending on tee selection. The Faldo Championship Course features wide fairways and large greens, but the course's 108 bunkers require accuracy from the tee to the approach shot. The par-71 Faldo course plays from 5,245 to 6,846 yards. The best rates are available from June through September, and kids age 15 and under play for free while playing with a full-paying adult after 3 p.m.
