As the capital of California and business center of the city, midtown Sacramento is a bustling civic and commerce area that has lots of human traffic and activity starting in the early hours of the morning. There are several dining opportunities in midtown Sacramento that offer a variety of different menus and cuisine.

Tower Cafe

The Tower Cafe is located several blocks from downtown Sacramento, and opens for breakfast at 8 a.m. The menu includes breakfast standards such as French toast and blueberry pancakes as well as a number of omelets, including Denver omelets, salmon omelets, and portobello omelets. Breakfast specialties include the chorizo burrito, chille rellenos, as well as birria traditional, which consists of chuck beef roasted in citrus, chiles, onion, vinegar and spices. The dish is served with eggs, beans and fiery salsa.

La Bou Bakery & Cafe

The La Bou Bakery & Cafe, located in the center of downtown Sacramento, is open for breakfast and lunch seven days a week. The menu includes fresh pastries baked on site, as well as hot bagel and panini sandwiches. The cafe also has a number of specialty coffees, teas and smoothies. For lunch, there are a variety of salads, hot sandwiches and soups from which to choose.

A diner-style restaurant in downtown Sacramento, the Pancake Circus opens at 7 a.m. with a full breakfast menu. The restaurant offers pancakes in a number of varieties, as well as omelets and crepes. Sides include eggs, bacon, hash browns and other standards. Coffee, tea and juice are available drinks, along with fruit smoothies.

Located on 11th Street in midtown Sacramento, the Ambrosia Cafe opens at 8 a.m. daily for breakfast. The menu changes frequently, depending on the seasonal availability of fresh ingredients, but there are several staples that remain on the menu year-round. Breakfast highlights include creme brulee French toast, homemade granola and yogurt and slow-cooked Irish steel cut oatmeal. Cafe Ambrosia also offers a number of freshly cooked pastries every morning, such as Carmelitas and seasonal fruit tarts. The cafe also specializes in several varieties of coffees and espressos.

Naked Coffee

Naked Coffee is an independent coffeehouse in midtown Sacramento, open at 6 a.m. daily, with a small breakfast menu. In addition to coffees, lattes, and espressos, Naked Coffee offers several varieties of eggs and breakfast sandwiches, as well as pastries and bagels. Naked Coffee only uses top-shelf coffees and ingredients, and makes its own whipped cream daily. The cafe also has free wireless Internet access for customers.
