Lakewood, New Jersey, located just ten miles from the beach, offers tours of the former Rockefeller estate in Ocean County Park and the Gould Estate, now Georgian Court College. The La Petite France specialty menu features gratin Dauphinois with potato, ricotta and mozzarella; gratin Provencal, with eggplant, zucchini, peppers, tomatoes, basil and ricotta; and bouillabaisse, a fish soup with tomato and basil. For dessert, there is a tarte flambé. The restaurant is open from 7:30 am until 9:30 pm on Sundays, and from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm on Friday. Breakfast and lunch are served daily. R&S Kosher Restaurant & Delicatessen

The R&S Kosher Restaurant & Delicatessen on Clifton Avenue has been a Lakewood tradition since it opened in 1921. Popular as a kosher delicatessen and also as a restaurant, R&S serves classic Jewish cuisine with inexpensive to moderate prices. The restaurant provides a large space with seating for up to 200 people. Patrons enjoy such traditional Jewish dishes as kishke and gravy, chopped liver and corned beef. R&S is open for both lunch and dinner, and pricing is moderate. Catering and take-out are available.
