From the massive timbers of early twentieth century rustic lodges to minimalistic fifties-era motor inns, accommodations within Glacier National Park lend historic charm to a wilderness vacation. Visitors can choose from the park's hotels, motels, inns and cabins, which all offer basic rooms in incredible surroundings.

Glacier Park Lodge

The log construction of Glacier Park Lodge employs 60 massive 500-year-old logs with bark in-tact. Built in 1912, this historic resting place is near the train station in East Glacier, and contains 161 rooms, a dining room, bar, espresso stand and gift shop. Guests enjoy the outdoor pool, spa and golf or depart from here on the park's signature Red Bus Tours.

Lake McDonald Lodge

Located in Glacier National Park's southwestern region, Lake McDonald Lodge offers expansive views of its namesake lake and surrounding mountains from its balconies, veranda and porch. This 1914 Swiss Chalet-style structure is just 10 miles from the West Glacier entrance, along the scenic Going to the Sun Road. The main lodge, duplex cabins,and adjacent fifties-era motor inn contain 100 guest rooms with private baths, a gift shop, campstore, grill and pizzeria, lounge and dining room. Red Bus Tours, boat tours and ranger programs are readily available.

Swiftcurrent Motor Inn

Originally the site of a guest teepee camp for horse pack trips, Swiftcurrent Motor Inn now encompasses three buildings--Pinetop Motel, duplex cottages (some with shared baths) and historic cabins, with a total of 88 rooms. This is the perfect location to begin a hike to Swiftcurrent Pass, Iceberg Lake or Ptarmigan Lake.

Many Glacier Hotel

The five-story, 214-room Many Glacier Hotel was built in 1915 as the dropping-off point for the Great Northern Railway. Its rustic architecture blends with the mountains and shore of Swiftcurrent Lake. Guests take in views from its wrap-around porch from which three glaciers are visible. Or they can get closer via a boat tour or two-mile hike to Grinnell Glacier. The lodge provides a gift shop, snack and espresso stand, lounges and dining room. Red Bus Tours, boat tours, ranger programs and nightly music entertain guests.

Village Inn at Agpar

Just under two miles inside Glacier National Park's western entrance is a tiny village known as Apgar. The Village Inn here contains 36 rooms on two stories of an historic motor inn. All rooms have views of Lake McDonald and the surrounding mountains. One- and two-bedroom units are available, as well as a few kitchenette-equipped rooms.
