Camping technology changes constantly, but there is some equipment that stands the test of time. Kelty tents are in that category. Although it is no longer manufactured, the recent Ridgeway line of tents is still available through some bricks-and-mortar stores and online retailers. The Kelty series has the High Country three-person trail tent, the Highlander multi-room eight-person family tent, and the Sonoma Cabin 11-person fabric cabin with four rooms and a screen porch. Ridgeway tents are made by Wenzel for Kelty, and Wenzel is the warranty service provider.

Ridgeway Highlander Family Dome

For family camping, the 10-foot by 17-foot Highlander provides quasi-privacy for four separate rooms along with room for eight people. At nearly 7 feet high, the large dome is a tent designed for longer stays at the campsite. Despite the ease of set-up, its size and footprint make setting up camp a major effort. It is designed to withstand both wind and rainstorm. Considered a three-season tent, the tent uses welded seams between walls and floor and coated seams where sewn. The roof is fully screened for air circulation.

Ridgeway Sonoma Cabin Tent

Setting up camp for a long stretch in the outdoors with a family or friends makes the Sonoma Cabin Tent a good selection. The 18-foot by 18-foot, nearly 7-foot tall tent sleeps 11 with flexible room design. A full screened porch area, screened windows and mesh roof vents allow for plenty of air circulation. The three-season tent features welded seams between floor and walls for improved water resistance. There are multiple areas for gear storage, including wall pockets for things like keys, flashlights and sunglasses.

Ridgeway High Country Backpacking Tent

A little larger than most backpacking tents, the High Country tent is designed for three people. With an 11-1/4 pound weight, whoever carries the tent should give the water to someone else to lug. Most backpacking tents are in the 5 lb. to 8 lb. range. However, the High Country sleeps three, rather than two, and has a 5-foot height opposed to a typical 3- to 4-foot height. Gear loft and storage pockets. Its bay-style windows and roof vents allow for air circulation.
