Baytown, Texas, is a bedroom community east of Houston, located along the Gulf Coast and Galveston Island, making for many opportunities for outdoor pursuits. It is possible to fish, surf, swim, snorkel, scuba dive and sail when visiting the Baytown region. Because of the mild climate, many visitors choose to spend a few days or a full season in Baytown each year. There are several RV parks and mobile home campgrounds that are highly rated and offer multiday rates.

Shady Oaks offers day, weekly and monthly rates. The park has a community feel to it, and many guests stay for the winter season. There is a pet run area, and sites can accommodate most sizes of RV. Standard water, sewer, cable TV, Wi-Fi and 30- or 50-amp electric connections are available. There are trees throughout the park for shade and protection from the hot East Texas sun. There is a mail-drop service, and on Tuesday there is propane delivery. The location is within 30 minutes of Galveston beaches, where you can swim, surf, snorkel and fish.
