Baudette, Minnesota, is a small community located on the Rainy River and near Lake of the Woods. Baudette is near the Canadian border. Anglers can go for a myriad of species in the river and lake, including trout, perch, bass and walleye. Be aware of the waters you are fishing and where the international border is, as it is easy to boat or float into the Canadian side. It is possible to fish year-round at Lake of the Woods and Baudette, as the walleye hit during the winter, making for good ice fishing. Make sure to have both Minnesota and Ontario fishing licenses should you opt to fish both sides of the border.
