If you are planning to fish the region without a guide and charter service, Lake of the Woods Bait and Tackle's staff is available to provide information, tips and updated fish reports. Minnesota state fishing licenses are available for purchase at the outfitter. The staff members are professional fishing guides in the region and are available for custom trips should you decide to have a guided outing. Bait, tackle, minnows, leeches and wax-worms are available at the store.

Schuster's Resort and Charters
Schuster's Resort and Charters offers walleye fishing charters into Lake of the Woods. A range of multiday packages are offered, as well as day trips. All charters include use of fishing gear, tackle, bait, fish cleaning and bagging, boat service with captain and guide. You should provide your own sunglasses (preferably polarized,) sun hat, extra clothing, soft-soled shoes, lunch and drinks. Charters can accommodate a maximum of six people. Charters run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Black bear, moose, pelicans, loons and eagles are frequently spotted on trips.

Wheelers Point Resort
Wheelers Point Resort offers fishing charters on Lake of the Woods. Walleye fishing is the specialty. The charter boats used at Wheelers Point use electronic fish-finder equipment and have on-board toilets. Charters include use of all fishing gear, tackle and bait, boat service, guide and cooler with ice. Bring your own sun protection (hat and sunglasses,) food, drinks, extra clothing and a camera. Wheelers Resort also takes guests out for bass, northern pike and sturgeon. Keep an eye out for loons, eagles and other sea and shore birds during trips.
