Williams Cycling Wheel System 38
At less than 3 pounds, Williams Cycling's Wheel System 38 provides cyclists with an efficient roll. According to BikeRadar.com's technical editor, James Huang, the Wheel System 38's carbon rims provide speedy acceleration and "buttery ride quality." Huang also tested the rims on a cyclocross bike, testing their shock absorption capabilities. He reported that its "cushy feel made it slightly easier to stay in the saddle and power through rough sections."
HED Ardennes
At 23mm, HED's Ardennes tires are a bit wider than the average road bike wheel, which they say delivers much better handling and a smoother ride on the road. BikeRadar's Chris Davidson took HED's claims to task and was pleased to report, "The extra width provides the benefits of grip and cushion that HED claim." He went on to add that the rims improve traction and soften road vibration, and that despite the wider profile, the rims are still a lightweight 1361 grams.
Easton EA50 SL
Easton's EA50 SL rims are lightweight and durable; a solid choice for both road cyclists and cyclocross racers. Double-butted spokes add durability, while carbon rims and ceramic hubs keep the weight down for speedy acceleration. Cycling Plus's Matt Brett reviewed the rims and found himself impressed with the EA50's durability, saying that after a series of tests, "they were as impressively round and true when we'd finished testing them as when we started."
