South Dakota offers plenty of fishing opportunities with its numerous mountain lakes, streams, reservoirs and glacial lakes. There are nearly 30 fish species in the state providing anglers with a variety of catches year-round. Fishing resorts with guide services are available in eastern South Dakota.

Spring Creek Resort

Spring Creek Resort & Marina is located right by Lake Oahe, which covers 370,000 acres with a maximum depth of 205 ft providing visitors easy access to fishing and boating. There are about 30 species in the lake, including walleye, chinook salmon, bass, northern pike and catfish. The resort offers guided fishing services as well as an on-site boat ramp, fish cleaning facilities and boat slips. Accommodations include lakeside cabins and motel units with amenities like kitchenettes, cable TV, charcoal grills, microwaves and coffee pots. Fishing packages are available which combine lodging, meals, fishing guide, gear, a fully equipped boat, fuel, bait, tackle, as well as fish cleaning, packaging and freezing.

Outpost Lodge

The Outpost overlooks Cow Creek Bay on Lake Oahe. The lodge has a variety of accommodations including a rental house, ranch, den, modern log cabin units and camp sites. Visitors can enjoy the four stall boat launch adjacent to the lodge, a lakefront steakhouse restaurant and a lounge and casino right on-site. A bait and tackle convenience store is available where hunting and fishing licenses can be acquired. Popular catches include northern pike, walleye and salmon.

Allens Hillside Motel and Fishing Guide Service

Allen's Hillside offers lodging and fishing guide services for Lake Francis Case and Lake Sharpe. Walleye fishing is abundant in both lakes as both fisheries are managed by the South Dakota Department of Game, Fish & Parks. Walleye is the primary game fish in both lakes but other species like smallmouth bass, white bass, sauger, channel catfish, and northern pike can also be caught. Allen's Hillside provides fishing information, services and supplies such as fishing tackle, bait, game cleaning facilities, river maps, resident and non-resident licenses and fishing regulations. Accommodations include cable TV, air conditioning and kitchenettes.
