Group Camp
The largest of the Shakamak facilities, the group camp hosts dorms, a showerhouse, full kitchen and large dining facilities. Designed for groups with adult supervision, the group camp can accommodate up to 270 campers in its beds.
Rent-a-Camp
The Rent-a-Camp option is seasonal and only available between April and November. Seven cabins accommodate up to six people each and are set within a primitive campground. Electricity is available, but you'll have to hike to the shower house for running water. Bring your cooler and grill, as well, as there are no kitchens nearby.
Seasonal Cabins
These Shakamak State Park cabins can be rented between April and October and the park staff recommends early reservations as the cabins book quickly. This set of cabins can accommodate a up to six people. Each has a double bed, two sets of bunk beds, a dining area, a kitchen with running water, a stove and a refrigerator, a full bathroom, and a wood-burning stove for either heat or ambiance. Bring your own firewood, linens and cooking utensils, however, because they are not provided.
Open Year Round
Cabins B, C and D at Shakamak give travelers the same amenities as seasonal cabins in addition to electric heat and a little living space near the dining area. But these three units are not located on the water as Lakeview A and B are. These two cabins (a duplex) overlook the lake and boast a private dock and a fishing pier. Other A and B amenities include microwaves, coffee pots, some cooking implements, plush living areas, a fire ring and a swing-away grill. Recently renovated, Cabin 1 is also a year-round rental with a remodeled bathroom, kitchen and floors and the addition of new beds and curtains.
