Valdosta, Georgia bills itself as a place where you can experience "Antebellum to Adventure." Take a driving tour of the city's Historic Register homes, get a thrill at the Wild Adventures Theme Park, shop for pecan treats, play a round of golf, or catch a performance at the Peach State Summer Theatre. History buffs will enjoy learning a bit about Valdosta native Doc Holliday, the legendary gambler and gunfighter. And for people with special dietary needs, there are many gluten-free dining options.

Chili's Grill & Bar

Chili's has developed a menu, available online, that lists beverage and menu options for those who have wheat/gluten allergies. The menu includes items such as soup, salads without croutons or tortilla strips, vegetable sides, tacos made with corn tortillas, steak, salmon, chicken and burgers without buns. It suggests a chocolate shake for dessert. Before placing an order, Chili's advises diners with allergies to always alert the manager to any special dietary needs. Chili's does not guarantee that its food is completely gluten-free since there are shared preparation and cooking areas in the restaurant.

Outback Steakhouse

This Australian-themed restaurant features steaks, ribs, seafood and its signature Bloomin' Onion. Outback posts its menu online with a notation of "GF" by items which are gluten free. It also instructs diners how to order other items to make them suitable for a gluten-free diet. For instance, order veggies without seasoning or substitute a baked potato for the Aussie Fries. Request no croutons on salads and ask that salads be mixed in a bowl separate from other salads. Avoid Bloomin' Onion petals and the bread that may be brought to your table, and order sandwiches without the bread. For kids under 10, there is a "Joey" menu that lists gluten-free items. Outback recommends its Chocolate Thunder From Down Under for a gluten-free finish to your meal. It's a flourless brownie served with ice cream, chocolate sauce, chocolate shavings and whipped cream.
