There are three bed and breakfasts in Salida, Colorado. Salida has a wide variety of activities for nature-lovers to enjoy, from mountain biking and hiking to golf and horseback riding. You can soak in nearby hot springs or take pictures of wildlife. Rafting, kayaking and fly fishing on the Arkansas River are additional activities you may enjoy. In the winter, Salida offers skiing and snow-machine trails.

The Tudor Rose Bed and Breakfast is a 4,700-square foot mansion on 37 acres and bordered by three mountain ranges. It is located 1.5 miles from downtown Salida. There are six guestrooms on both the upper and lower levels of the house. All guestrooms have private baths with robes for guest use, phones and free wireless Internet. Some of the rooms offer TVs, VCRs, CD players and mini-fridges. The upper-level rooms can be obtained by climbing a beautiful curved oak staircase and offers majestic mountain views. Guests will enjoy a full breakfast as well as afternoon refreshments.

There is a three-quarter mile hiking trail on the property, numerous outdoor shaded swings and an outdoor hot tub. Guests may also stable their horses for a nominal fee.

Colorado Crossroads is a new western lodge seven miles west of downtown Salida. It has been in the Richardson family for over 60 years and rests on 19 mountainous acres. Guests may enjoy a breakfast buffet in the Great Room from 6 to 9 a.m. Fruits, cereals, breads, and a bevy of cold and hot drinks are part of the buffet. Espresso and lattes are also available. Every room has a private bath, queen bed, and individual private balconies where you can enjoy mountain views. Additionally, the rooms are equipped with high speed Internet access, satellite TV, and a video player. Guests may also enjoy spending time by the river rock fireplace or upstairs library with balcony and roomy chairs. Other options include a hot tub in the trees behind the lodge. Colorado Crossroads' website permits visitors to take a virtual tour, "meet" the hosts, and see current rates.

Thomas House Bed and Breakfast

The Thomas House Bed and Breakfast prides itself on its family friendly atmosphere. It was originally built in 1888 as a boarding house for the employees and families of the Denver and Rio Grande Railroad. Each guestroom has its own private bathroom and a queen bed. Guestrooms have a common sitting room with a TV and kitchenette that guests may share. The kitchenette is stocked with a variety of beverages and jar of pretzels for guests to munch on. The Thomas House Bed and Breakfast also has a reading room where guests may read current newspapers and magazines. The breakfast buffet is available for two hours. Guests will be provided a different entree item daily. Examples of entrees include homemade waffles, muffins, scrambled eggs, bacon, biscuits and sausage gravy or baked oatmeal. Cereal, fruit, yogurt, English Muffins, and bagels are offered in addition to the daily entree. Juice, milk, coffee and tea are also provided. Guests may wish to spend time on the decks and patios with the beautiful views of mountains and flower beds. There is a hot tub for guests to use between 3 and 9:30 p.m. Rates range from $65 to $135 per night.
