A sub-range of the Appalachian Mountains, the Great Smoky Mountain range runs along the North Carolina-Tennessee border. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park was established in 1934 and attracts many different outdoor enthusiasts who enjoy horseback riding, camping, fishing, hiking and biking. If you are traveling to this region for a getaway or a romantic vacation, there are many different budget cabins available in the Smoky Mountains that range in size, location and amenities.

American Mountain Rentals

American Mountain Rentals is a vocational rental company that specializes in cabins and chalets that are situated in the Smoky Mountains.

Locations include Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Walden Creek and Sevierville, Tennessee. There are more than 180 properties to choose from that include units that have from one to nine bedrooms. The smaller cabins are the most economical and include the Love Shack that is 6 miles outside of Pigeon Forge. This one-bedroom log cabin has two bathrooms and modern furnishings.

Amenities include a Jacuzzi, a pool table, a fireplace, mountain views, a large covered deck and a charcoal barbecue grill. This pet-friendly property sleeps four guests. As of March 2010, nightly rates at the Love Shack range from $135 to $165, depending on the time of the year.

Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg

Mountain Rentals of Gatlinburg is a company that manages more than 280 cabins, chalets and authentic log cabins in the Smoky Mountains. Available rentals sleep from two to 22 guests. This company has been in business for more than 20 years, and all of its properties are convenient to downtown Gatlinburg.

One available vacation property is the three-bedroom River's Edge cabin that is located off of Pittman Center in Gatlinburg. This unit is approximately 13 miles from downtown Gatlinburg, has 1 1/2 bathrooms and sleeps up to six. The interior is complete with 1,936 square feet of living space, a wood-burning fireplace, wood flooring and paneling and plush furnishings. Amenities at this pet-friendly cabin include a washer and dryer, a furnished deck, a charcoal grill and a hot tub. The March 2010 nightly rate is $130.

Sugar Maple Cabins

Sugar Maple Cabins has properties available in the Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg areas that have mountain views. The Little Bears Getaway cabin is located 1 1/2 half miles away from Pigeon Forge.

This log cabin has a large furnished covered front porch with a wooded view. The unit sleeps six and as a pool table and modern furniture that includes two-person recliners. The covered back deck has a Jacuzzi that is shielded from public view. There is one bedroom and bathroom in the Little Bears Getaway cabin. Depending on the time of year, nightly rates run from $111 to $189 as of March 2010.
