Confederate History

Step back in time and visit Beauvoir, the Jefferson Davis Home. Completed in 1852, the name of this antebellum home comes from the French word for beautiful and was used to describe the view of the Mississippi Sound from the front porch. Davis had it built for his wife and 13 children as a summer home. The property is now a memorial to Jefferson Davis and the Confederate soldier. Beauvoir is open every day but Christmas and New Year's Day. House tours are available.
