Located on the shores of the St. Croix River on the border of Minnesota and Wisconsin, the outdoors is a big part of the allure of Stillwater. People hike and fish, or go swimming in one of the lakes. Another option in Stillwater is to go to one of the parks in town where people can have a picnic or just relax and enjoy the open space.

Lily Lake Park

Visitors to Lily Lake Park also have access to Lily Lake, which is a clean lake that's good for swimming and other water-based recreation. The park features a boat ramp and dock, and is located in southern Stillwater. There is a beach where people can swim or relax in the sun, though visitors should note there is no lifeguard on duty. The park also includes a picnic shelter with six tables and grills, which is a good option for those who want to barbecue with friends. If a shelter isn't important, there are picnic tables scattered throughout the park, which also includes playground equipment and tennis courts.

Washington Square

Right in the middle of Stillwater is Washington Square Park. Despite its location in the heart of the city, visitors get the feeling that they're in the middle of a natural area. One of the most notable aspects of the park is its paves path, which leads visitors through a series of flower gardens. There also is a picnic shelter at the park that holds four picnic tables. Playground equipment is also available and helps parents tire out their kids after a hearty meal.

Teddy Bear Park

In some ways, Teddy Bear Park is like any other park. In other ways, it is a location unto itself. Teddy Bear Park includes a gazebo and benches on which guests can rest, picnic tables on which to eat, and playground equipment on which kids can play. On the other hand, the park also features such notable amenities as an amphitheater and a barn. The two-story barn is designed to hold large groups of people. There is a kitchenette at the barn, too, so guests have the option of making and eating a hot meal. The park also features indoor restrooms.
