Kalachandji's
Kalachandji's is Dallas's longest established vegetarian restaurant, serving authentic Indian vegetarian cuisine for 27 years through the practice of the "timeless Ayurvedic art of cooking for the body, mind and spirit." Kalachandji's mission is to serve tasty meals while at the same time promoting healthy eating and aiding its diners in achieving a peaceful mindset and elevated consciousness through a good meal. Kalachandji's never uses meat, fish, eggs, onion or garlic as ingredients, and it uses only fresh produce--no frozen or canned vegetables. The eatery uses olive and corn oil exclusively, with the former serving as the base for most of its homemade salad dressings. Everything on the menu is vegan except for the items that contain dairy. Kalachandji's does have desserts and uses only turbinado sugar in making them.

"Turning traditional salad on its head:" this is Greenz Salad's motto. The restaurant makes traditional salads in innovative ways, combining ingredients in distinctive ways to appeal to both vegetarians and meat eaters. Founder Casie Caldwell combines the concept of fine dining salad and the casual salad bar, thus creating unique salads. Greenz caters to both veggie lovers and meat lovers but still carefully limits meat sources to tuna, shrimp and chicken. In one of its branches, Greenz has a choice menu that includes a selection of salads, breakfast and drinks customized for a truly healthier diet. A "For the Kidz" salad meal is also available. Cosmic Café
Cosmic Café is a vegetarian restaurant that serves Indian cuisine. One of its featured dishes is the Buddha's Special Platter, which consists of the vegetable of the day (which is usually curried), a delicately spiced lentil soup, two pappadam pastries, basmati rice and naan. Because of its exotically flavored vegetable dishes, meat eaters have also come to love Cosmic Café. The eatery serves enchiladas similar to the traditional Mexican dish of the same name that is filled with spinach. The specialty of Cosmic Café lies in its vegetarian versions of meat dishes infused with Indian flavor. Cosmic Café caters to the yoga lifestyle. More than healthy food, there are also yoga classes, meditation sessions and Zen poetry nights at the cafe.
