Extrawheel Voyager
According to Extrawheel, the Voyager is the lightest single-wheel trailer you can buy. Its durable design and excellent tracking make it a good choice for on and off road use. Bike Radar gives Voyager a solid four-star rating and it's also recommended by Bike Trailer Blog. Extrawheel's Voyager has a single 26-inch wheel so replacements are readily available. The 26-inch wheel also reduces rolling resistance and improves handling over obstacles. Large waterproof panniers that attach to both sides of the Voyager's wheel offer storage without compromising stability.
Radical Designs Cyclone II
Radical Designs lives up to their name with the Cyclone II. A tough Cordura bag, with a rectangular aluminum frame inside its base, makes up this trailer's body. Quick-release wheels attach to both sides of the frame and you can stow them on top of the bag along with the trailer's quick release tow bar. When you store the wheels and tow bar inside the bag, this trailer becomes a piece of luggage you can carry onto public transportation or into a hotel room. You can even convert the Cyclone II into a shopping cart by moving the wheels to extra holes at the back of the trailer's frame. This versatility comes in handy when you're using the Cyclone II for long-distance touring or running errands in town. That's why Big Trailer Blog recommends it and Bike Radar gives it four out of five stars.
Burley Flatbed
It doesn't get more practical than a flatbed trailer and Burley's design can handle 100 pounds of gear. Its aluminum frame has a rubberized fabric base that keeps the weight down and allows it to fold for convenient storage. This fabric loading platform also dampens bumps in the road, but you have to be careful with heavy loads that have sharp edges. The quick-release wheels on both sides of the frame have sealed bearings to eliminate maintenance. Burley's Flatbed gets a three-and-half-tar rating from Bike Radar and a thumbs-p from Bike Trailer Blog. The Flatbed also has a variety of hitch options to accommodate different bikes and rider preferences.
BOB Ibex
If you prefer to ride on rugged terrain, Bob's Ibex trailer has an adjustable suspension with 3 inches of travel. This allows it to go where other trailers can't. It also reduces rider fatigue and keeps the trailer's wheel on the ground, where it belongs. Bob's Ibex is easy to hitch to a rear axle, and its single wheel and low center of gravity prevent it from interfering with your bike's handling. Bob trailers are recommended by Bike Trailer Blog and the Ibex has a five-star rating at Amazon. You can even upgrade to a plus version that has a waterproof dry sack, if you're concerned about inclement weather.
