Cumberland is in western Maryland and is known primarily as an industrial part of the state. However, there are a few attractions in the area that are popular with people who enjoy combing through historical communities. The area hosts several different types of festivals and outdoor activities, and most visitors enjoy visiting the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad. Cumberland is home to several hotels.

The Holiday Inn at Cumberland is within walking distance to historic Cumberland downtown, where music comes alive every Friday from May to September. For bikers and train enthusiasts, be sure to visit the nearby Allegheny Highland Trail and the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad, respectively. Other attractions within a 10-mile radius include Rocky Gap State Park, Maplehurst Country Club, History House, George Washington's Headquarters and Constitution Park. Each of the 130 guestrooms and suites includes complimentary high-speed Internet connection, access to the pool, the fitness center and free morning newspaper. For an additional $25 per night per room, pets are welcome.

Fairfield Inn and Suites accommodates both business and leisure travelers. The facility, which is near the downtown Cumberland area, offers guests a free hot breakfast daily. Take part in an hourly mountainside bike tour customized for your party or visit the Allegheny County Museum, both of which are nearby. Red Roof Inn is a pet-friendly hotel that has a coin-operated laundry facility and free WiFi Internet access. The rooms feature standard amenities such as cable TV and telephones. A fitness center with cardio and strength training machines is also on site. This hotel is close to the downtown area, which features a number of shops and eateries. You also might want to visit Frostburg Main Street, a quaint and artsy thoroughfare in nearby Frostburg, Maryland. Thrasher Carriage Museum is another local attraction and is just a 15-minute drive from the hotel.
