Maryland is known for having a little bit of everything. Some people refer to it as America in miniature because it has mountains to the west, an ocean coastline in the east and a lot of variety in the middle. Maryland not only offers nice, inexpensive getaways, but there are lots of things to see nearby.

Ocean City

Ocean City is Maryland's beach resort location. Ocean city has a boardwalk with rides, games and restaurants. The town also has lots of mini golf courses as well as jet ski rentals and para-sailing. You can have freshly made taffy, popcorn and the Famous Thrasher's boardwalk fries. The trip can be as expensive or inexpensive as you want. You can rent a condo, stay at a bed and breakfast or stay at a variety of hotels that range in costs.

Wisp

Western Maryland offers mountains and a beautiful, peaceful landscape. Wisp is Maryland's only ski resort, and it's located in McHenry, Maryland. Wisp is a four seasons resort that offers, golf, snowboarding, snow tubing and a mountain coaster that is open all year round. Wisp offers package deals for reasonable prices.

St. Michaels

St. Michaels is a town tucked away just outside of Easton, Maryland, and surrounded by the Chesapeake Bay. St. Michaels has a quiet charm and has eluded the overly touristy and modern feel of many resort towns. St. Michaels offers lots of shops, historic buildings and variety of excellent seafood restaurants. Several famous people and politicians from nearby Washington, D.C., have houses in St. Michaels because of its beauty and peace.
