A vast metropolitan area that stretches for miles across the flat plains of central Indiana, Indianapolis is home to intimate jazz clubs and pulsating dance floors; sophisticated five-star restaurants and casual, friendly eateries where one can learn the true meaning of "Hoosier hospitality." Although Indy is one of the largest cities in the U.S., visitors can escape the bustling downtown by visiting Eagle Creek Park or Fort Benjamin Harrison State Park--both densely wooded and home to miles of hiking trails. After a day spent in the fresh air, head back to downtown Indianapolis for dinner or dancing at a club.

Restaurant: Rick's Cafe Boatyard

Boating enthusiasts should especially enjoy Rick's Café Boatyard, where you can pull up your boat, park in the marina and walk inside to the restaurant. Located on Eagle Creek Reservoir, over 100 boat slips belong to the restaurant. Whether you dine inside or out on the patio, enjoy the scenic views of the water. Start with an appetizer of parmesan artichoke crab, Maryland crab cakes, chicken cordon bleu fingers or tempura fried calamari. The extensive seafood selection includes fried Louisiana Catfish filets, Atlantic salmon, South African lobster tails and ahi tuna. For those who don't like seafood consider BBQ chicken pizza, pork tenderloin sandwich or a variety of steak, seafood and pasta dishes.
