With the largest barrier reef in the northern hemisphere just off its coast, Belize is a popular destination for dive enthusiasts. The warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea mix with lush vegetation and inland adventure to provide a relaxed tropical experience. There are many ways to experience a dive trip to Belize, from bustling tourist communities to private solar-powered islands.

Hamanasi

Located between Dangriga and Placencia on the Southern mainland of Belize, Hamanasi is a secluded boutique resort nestled between the lush Mayan Mountains and the Caribbean Sea. A PADI five-star gold palm resort, Hamanasi boasts the largest dive operation in southern Belize.

Hamanasi services a number of popular dive locations, including the Southern Barrier Reef, Glovers Reef Atoll, Turneffe Islands Atoll, Lighthouse Reef Atoll, and Gladden Spit Marine Reserve. For a truly unique experience, Hamanasi offers night diving with gentle whale sharks during the full moons of April, May and June. Accommodations consist of 12 beach-front deluxe rooms and nine intimate tree-house style cabanas. All rooms feature air conditioning and private porches. The Great House features an on-site restaurant and bar, and divers can enjoy the sandy beach or the resort's infinity pool while not exploring the colorful reefs.

Turnefffe Island Resort

Divers wanting to get close to the action can choose to stay at Turneffe Island Resort. Situated on its own private island within the famous Turneffe Reef Atoll, Turneffe Island Resort boasts over 70 popular dive sites within minutes of the dock.

Originally built as a remote fishing lodge in 1962, Turneffe Island Resort now offers full PADI dive facilities in an eco-friendly paradise. Resort agents will meet you at customs to help you find your way to this sliver of beach 35 miles off shore. Shuttle via water-taxi leaves the mainland daily.

The resort offers a schedule of fifteen dives a week, including the world renowned Elbow and Blue Hole locations. Twenty guest rooms with ocean views are offered in the main lodge. Divers seeking even more seclusion can stay in one of eight private cabanas on the island's southeast beach. An on-site kitchen provides three family-style meals a day. Diving services are offered by per dive or package rates.

Ramon's Village Resort

Located on Ambergris Caye, just south of Belize's aquatic border with the Mexican Yucatan peninsula, Ramon's Village Resort offers divers plenty of action in and out of the water. A PADI gold palm resort facility, Ramon's provides a full-service dive shop and a variety of excursions to the largest coral reef in the northern hemisphere situated only a mile off its eastern shore.

Coconut palms, bougainvillea, hibiscus and other tropical flora surround 61 thatched-roof cabanas in a tropical setting. Enjoy the large freshwater pool or visit their famed Purple Parrot restaurant and bar.

San Pedro is a bustling tourist town just outside the gates of the resort for those wanting to mix in nightlife or shopping on their diving trip. Ramon's also offers a full range of water sports from its private beach.
