Orange, Virginia is about 20 miles northeast of Charlottesville; and according to the 2000 census, about 4,100 people live there. During WWII, a lot of the silk that went into parachutes used by the United States was made in Orange. That factory closed in the mid-1970s and the building now is occupied by a restaurant and several businesses. There are several places to stay in Orange, and your choice will depend on the amenities you require and the cost.
