For cyclists who prefer the adrenaline rush of going downhill and dirt jumping, there are a variety of freestyle bikes available. Freestyle biking is one of the more punishing forms of the sport. Freestyle bikes need to be carefully designed and well made to ensure rider safety. The following freestyle bikes are at the top of their class.

Knolly V-Tach

The V-Tach was designed by Knolly Bikes, solely with the rigors or freestyle riding in mind. Riders seeking a frame built to shuffle between long distance trails and punishing dropoffs should look elsewhere. Features include a front derailleur mount, adjustable head tube and chain stays, a slack seat tube angle and exceptional lateral stiffness. Specifications include 196mm of rear travel, 180mm to 203mm of front travel and replaceable 9mm dropouts. The V-Tach is available in small, medium and large sizes.

Versus Cycles Blitz II

The Blitz II is Versus Cycles' answer to riders seeking an extreme free-riding bike for both slope and mountain riding. Features include a dual crown-capable head tube, front derailleur compatibility and CNC rear suspension components. Specifications include suspension with 170mm of travel, 68mm bottom bracket width, 30mm seat post, 35mm seat post collar and a 10mm by 135mm rear hub axle and spacing. Versus Cycles ensured attention to detail by manufacturing just three frames, with another in production cycle in March, 2010.

Ellsworth Rogue

The Ellsworth Rogue was designed for the rider seeking a bike that can handle the standard spine-tingling dropoffs of free-riding and the eye-watering speed of downhill. Features include a 67-degree head tube, ICT tracking suspension and a long wheel base. Specifications include 14.75-inch bottom bracket height, rear suspension with 203mm of travel, a 73.25-degree seat angle and 442mm of chain stay length.
