West Hollywood likes to look good, inside and out. You'll find a fitness-obsessed culture here and devotion to all things organic, vegan and locally sourced. That said, there's plenty of comfort food to be had, too, and a willingness to indulge in extra post-workout calories.

Real Food Daily

The West Hollywood outpost of this vegan mecca serves delicious organic food in an upscale dining room. The "not-chos" with black beans and cashew cheese are a revelation and have converted more than one carnivore to the veg side.

Barney's Beanery

Barney's remembers when Sunset Strip was a just a piece of Route 66, a dusty stretch of road between Hollywood and the sea. Still a roadhouse at heart, it's got Harleys outside and pool, chili and beer inside. Janis Joplin tipped back her last drink here the night she died, and Quentin Tarantino wrote much of "Pulp Fiction" in a spot near the bar.
