Several cruises that leave from Los Angeles stop in Acapulco, Mexico, with some well-known cruise lines offering itineraries that include additional ports of call in Mexico. Those with Panama Canal itineraries also include an Acapulco stop along with other destinations on the way to Florida.

Princess Cruises offers a 10-day cruise from Los Angeles to Acapulco and other Mexican tourist destinations. The itinerary includes three days at sea before arriving at Acapulco at 10 a.m. and departing at 11 p.m. Other ports of call are Ixtapa, Zihuatanejo, Puerto Vallarta, Mazatlan, Cabo San Lucas and then another day at sea before returning to Los Angeles.

Passengers will enjoy the luxury of the Sapphire Princess, which features four swimming pools and more than 700 staterooms with balconies. Dining options include the International Dining Room, Sabatini's, a patisserie and a wine bar. For entertainment, the ship offers a main theater, grand casino, bars and nightclubs. A wide choice of leisure activities is available, including virtual golf simulators, art galleries, tennis courts and the Lotus Spa.

Norwegian Cruise Line

Norwegian Cruise Line (NCL) offers a 15-night Los Angeles-to-Miami cruise that stops in Acapulco and sails through the Panama Canal en route to Florida. On this cruise, the Norwegian Star departs from Los Angeles and stops at ports of call that include Cabo San Lucas, Mexico; Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; Cartagena, Colombia; and Key West and Miami, Fla. The ship features a casino and spa for adults. For children, the Norwegian Star offers Planet Kids, a children's center; Video Zone arcade; Splash Down kiddie pool; and a movie theater.

Norwegian Cruise Line gives passengers a "Freestyle Cruising" experience, with a choice of accommodations and a range of dining options including restaurants, grills, buffets and cafes. Specialty restaurants offer Asian Fusion, Texas-style steak, Italian food and French bistro cuisine at an additional charge.

Celebrity Cruises

Celebrity Cruises stops in Acapulco on its 14-night eastbound Panama Canal cruise aboard the Infinity. The ship departs from Los Angeles and visits Cabo San Lucas and Acapulco, Mexico; Puntarenas, Costa Rica; the Panama Canal and Cristobal Pier, Panama; Cartagena, Colombia; and Fort Lauderdale, Fla. The Celebrity Infinity arrives in Acapulco at 8 a.m. on the fifth day of the voyage and remains in port until 6 p.m.

The Infinity holds almost 2,000 passengers and is designed with marble, wood and etched glass. The ship offers a wide range of activities, including the Aquaspa, a swimming pool, an expansive reading library, a digital music library, gardens at the Conservatory, a theater and restaurants.
