Known as the Lilac City because of the blooms that cover its hills in spring, Rochester, New Hampshire, is located in the southeastern corner of the state near several beautiful natural attractions including the White Mountains, ski resorts and excellent beaches. The city of 31,000 is also home to several excellent diners and restaurants that will treat you to an old-fashioned and delicious morning meal.

Benedict's Grill

Benedict's Grill is a popular spot for fast, hot food and features breakfast items with local flavor, like homemade donuts and muffins, or maple-cinnamon French toast with syrup from local sugaring farms. Feel free to ask for items not on the menu--the staff just might cook up your request to order. The friendly service and the fantastic food make this a perennial local favorite for residents and visitors to Rochester alike. The restaurant is small and the parking options are limited, so be sure to get there early and expect a wait.

The restaurant plays oldies over the speakers and offers traditional diner food as well as modern low-carb options.

Pink Cadillac Diner

The family-run Pink Cadillac Diner serves classic American diner food for breakfast and has unique decor inspired by Elvis and the 1950s. The furniture in Pink Cadillac's dining area is all retro tables and chairs, and the movie playing on the TV by the counter usually features a classic Western or other period flick. A local favorite, it's often busy on weekends, so if you're going for Saturday brunch be prepared for a wait.
