The Dead Sea is an ancient lake that is approximately 400 meters (1,312 feet) below sea level. The extremely high salt content makes the Dead Sea void of marine life and rich with minerals mud said to have healing qualities for skin, muscles, joints, and circulation. This makes the Dead Sea home to many resorts that cater to healing, relaxation and rejuvenation. Most Jordanian resorts are in Sweimeh.
