Suffield is a small city in the Connecticut River Valley just minutes from the Massachusetts border. The area has been settled since the mid 17th-century. Despite its small size, Suffield is the birthplace of many well-known individuals who have influenced national politics and culture. Among them are the famous minister Rev. Ebenezer Gay and architect Henry Sykes. The city is part of a string of similar sized communities throughout this part of Connecticut. Residents and visitors to Suffield can easily find Mexican food in neighboring towns.

Sarapes Restaurant‎ is located five minutes from Suffield and serves many classic Mexican favorites. While the restaurant is not large or particularly well-decorated, the food is served by an authentic Mexican family and features traditional cooking. Mole poblano peppers are one of the owner's favorite dishes. Other entrees include enchiladas, chili rellenos, flautas and beef dishes. Sarapes does not deliver but does provide takeout service. The restaurant opens seven days a week at 10 a.m. Closing is 9 p.m. except on Fridays and Saturdays, when Sarapes closes at 10 p.m.

Acapulcos Mexican Restaurant‎

Acapulcos Mexican Restaurant‎ is located in the nearby town of Enfield. The restaurant's founder grew up in Guadalajara, Mexico, before immigrating to the United States to start his own business. The menu includes a wide variety of appetizers, soups, salads, entrees and desserts. Fajitas, burritos, quesadillas, enchiladas, chimichangas and chicken, pork or beef dishes are among the main courses served at Acapulcos. Seafood, burgers, egg dishes and vegetarian entrees are also available. A children's menu is provided for younger guests. Deep-fried ice cream, flan, an apple burrito and sopapillas round out the dessert portions. The restaurant opens every day at 11 a.m. and closes at 10 p.m, except for Fridays and Saturdays, when Acapulcos closes at 11 p.m.

Guadalajara Grill‎

Guadalajara Grill‎ is a family-owned business 10 minutes from Suffield in the town of Granby. The large restaurant can serve groups of 10 or more people with no problem. The menu consists of traditional Mexican dishes in addition to classic Latin favorites. Enchiladas, burritos, tacos and flautas are served. Unlike many Mexican restaurants, however, arroz con pollo, chicken creama and a variety of gourmet mole dishes are also available. Guadalajara Grill is open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m.
