Flagstaff, Arizona, is in north-central Arizona. Flagstaff is surrounded by national parks such as Petrified Forest National Park to the east, Kaibab National Forest and Grand Canyon to the north and Tonto National Forest, which surrounds Flagstaff, to the south and west. Flagstaff is home to the University of Northern Arizona. There are many ATV trails in the Flagstaff area to enjoy.

Cinder Hills ATV Area

The Cinder Hills ATV Area is the largest and most well-known ATV trail area close to Flagstaff. Located in Coconino National Forest, the Cinder Hills ATV Area has over 13,000 acres of space, and there are specific riding trails, as well as open OHV areas for ATV riders to simply do their thing. There is some degree of camping allowed in this area, but there are no facilities, not even water fountains or rest rooms--so ATV riders should also have emergency supplies on them, just in case there is a problem.

Sedona Off Road Center

The Sedona Off Road Center is a rental area in neighboring Sedona. Rent ATVs or simply stop there to get directions to the many local ATV trails that aren't mapped or marked. There are many local trails in the area. While they might not be in a national park, the ATV trails still provide off-road opportunities.

Tonto National Forest OHV Area

The Tonto National Forest near Flagstaff has two areas that are approved for OHV use, meaning they are little-maintained trails that can be used by ATVs, but they are also shared with bikers and hikers. The Rolls OHV Area and Bulldog Canyon OHV area offer trails that have to be shared by ATV riders with bikers and hikers, but the trails are available for ATV use.
