Peter Dahl comes from a long line of family anglers and has been fishing northern Minnesota waters for much of his life. He's a second-generation Lake Superior fishing guide with more than 30 years of experience. He offers half-day (five and a half hours) and full-day (nine hours) lake trout fishing trips on Lake Superior for up to six anglers. The full-service charter company provides rods, reels, tackle and bait and will also help arrange accommodations and transportation. Ice is provided for your catch, and you can have your fish cleaned and filleted for free.

Tofte Charters
Hop aboard a 21-foot Bayliner boat, cruise to prime Lake Superior fishing waters and try your luck at landing lake trout. This Minnesota company, owned and operated by Darren Peck and Kelly Shepard, offers fishing trips out of Tofte, targeting the lake trout that migrate through area waters in late July and early August. They provide rods, reels and bait. Anglers are welcome to keep smaller catch (Peck and Shepard offer free fish cleaning), but the large ones you'll have to release--after you snap a photo. Anglers can sign up for half-day and full-day trips. Along with lake trout, the charters also target walleye, king salmon and steelhead.

Lake Superior Fishing
Steve Johnson likes to say that "at the mere mention of Hard Times, the fish tremble." Hard Times is the name of his 31-foot Sport Fisherman charter fishing boat. Johnson, with more than 25 years experience as a Minnesota guide, leads lake trout fishing trips on the North Shore of Minnesota. Half-day trips and full-day trips depart from Duluth. Johnson provides all equipment and bait and offers free fish cleaning. Anglers can fish with two rods, trolling the bottom for lake trout. If you'd like to know how the fish are biting, Johnson offers daily fish reports via his website.
