Nicknamed "The Natural State," Arkansas boasts amazing opportunities for outdoor activities and adventures. Climbing mountains, spelunking caves and boating lakes and rivers are just some of the activities visitors enjoy. Arkansas also offers National Forests, hiking trails, designer golf courses and whitewater rafting excursions. When planning your outdoor adventure to Arkansas, consider flying into one of the four primary airports in the state.

Northwest Arkansas Regional

Located in Fayetteville, Arkansas, the Northwest Arkansas Regional Airport is found in the upper Northwest corner of the state. Within an hour drive southeast of the airport is the Ozark National Forest, a prime location for hiking, camping and other outdoor activities. An hour drive to the northeast is the town Eureka Springs, rich with activities such as horseback riding, fishing and golf.

The airport hosts six major airlines with direct flights to 15 major cities.

Fort Smith Regional

Located on Ebing Air National Guard Base, Fort Smith Regional Airport hosts two national airlines: American Airlines and Delta Airlines. The airport sits just off Interstate 40 along the Arkansas and Oklahoma borders. Nearby attractions include famous Arkansas wineries, the Ozark Mountains and Ouachita National Forest. Visitors may also be interested in one of the six public golf courses in the greater Fort Smith area.

Little Rock National Airport

Found in Arkansas' capital city, Little Rock National Airport (Adams Field) hosts six major airlines that conduct approximately 124 flights per day to 16 major U.S. cities. Centrally located within the State of Arkansas, visitors who fly into Little Rock have easy access to many of the state's outdoor attractions. Little Rock alone offers numerous hiking trails and public parks, golf courses, camping and RV parks, and the world's largest pedestrian and bicycle bridge, Big Dam Bridge. Little Rock is also located within two hours of the Ozark and Ouachita National Forests.

Texarkana Regional Airport

Located along the Texas and Arkansas border, Texarkana Regional Airport hosts American Eagle Airlines, which operates flights to and from Dallas-Ft. Worth International Airport. The airport mainly supports general aviation. Outdoor activities surrounding the airport are plentiful, including campgrounds, lakes, hiking trails and horseback riding.
