Travelers looking for exciting or entertaining things to do on Sanibel Island, Florida have a nice selection of activities and adventures. There is all the usual excitement one would expect when traveling to an island like boating, diving, snorkeling, fishing, kayaking and beach exploring. Sanibel Historical Museum and Village

This is a village museum that serves as a tribute to those who first settled on Sanibel Island. The buildings have been restored to their former glory. Visitors take a step back in time and explore Sanibel Island, Florida the way those who first came to the island saw it day in and out. Admission to the museum is $5 per person and the museum is open Wednesdays through Saturdays during the hours between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. from November 4 through April 30 and 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. from May 1 through August 11.

The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum

The Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum is home to many exhibits that display mollusks from all corners of the Earth. Some of these shells are extremely rare and some of them can be found by combing beaches a short walk away from the museum. The museum store is a goldmine for travelers wanting to take a little information home about the local shells as there are several excellent books to choose from. Children four and under are admitted free and the museum is open daily between the hours of 10 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Beachview Golf and Tennis Club

Golf lovers will appreciate this 18- hole golf course that is open to the public. The par 70 course is appropriate for golfers of all skill levels and offers several choice views of the Sanibel River. The fully stocked pro shop is perfect for golfers who left something out of their golf bags or just want to pick up a little something to commemorate the experience. A PGA professional is available onsite for golfers who want to brush up on their games.

A USPTA Tennis Pro is available for tennis players checking out the hydro-grid tennis court at Beachview. The pro shop offers a wide range of rackets, clothing, and accessories for tennis lovers.

Hungry golfers or tennis players can enjoy a delicious dish at the Beachview Steakhouse and Seafood Restaurant.
