Although 60 percent of the Amazonian rainforest is located in Brazil, other countries that are a part of this ecological wonderland include Peru, Ecuador, Colombia, and Venezuela. This particular rainforest has been in existence for approximately 55 million years and exemplifies biodiversity as it is home to 2.5 million insect species, and 2,000 birds and mammals. Activities in this region include kayaking, nature hiking, and fishing and there are hotel options for Amazonian rainforest adventurers.

Amazon River is in the Amazonian rainforests of Brazil. The Travel Channel has ranked this location as one of 1000 places to see before you die and it is situated 35 miles northwest of the Manaus, which is the capital of Amazonas. This dynamic hotel also has two open-air amphitheaters and a treetop auditorium that is suitable for both corporate and social events. Accommodations include standard rooms, tree-top suites, units in one of the six towers, and the tree houses and Tarzan suites that are carved out of Amazonian trees and feature balconies, cable TV, and spacious bathrooms, all 22 meters above the ground. Services and amenities include two treetop swimming pools, convenience stores, two restaurants, four bars, and scheduled adventure activities such as swimming with pink dolphins, piranha fishing, and jungle treks.

La Selva Jungle Lodge

The La Selva Jungle Lodge is in the Ecuadorian Amazon Rainforest and was made from secondary, rainforest materials. Accommodations include 18 separate thatched-roofed bungalows that come complete with a private bathroom, a hammock, and mosquito net for each bed. Services and amenities include laundry service, piranha fishing from the lodge's dock, and vegetarian and special diet meals can be prepared upon request. Activities include walking tours on one of the many area trails, night excursions, and visits to the butterfly farm.

Reserva Amazonica Lodge

Inkaterra has been providing sustainable tourism in Peru for over 30 years with the goal of providing guests with authentic nature experiences. In the Amazonian rainforest in Peru, Inkaterra has the Reserva Amazonica Lodge that is surrounded by a jungle canopy.
