The historic city of Mainz is the state capital of Rhineland-Palatinate in western Germany. The picturesque town sits on the banks of the Rhine River and is just 35 minutes south of the Rhein-Taunus Naturpark. Numerous biking paths stretch in and around Mainz, including the culturally significant Roman Route, which is a 13 kilometer path with 19 stops. The surrounding Mainz landscape provides rolling fields, several public parks--including the popular Volkspark with its Children's Railway--and beaches along the Rhine.

The Hotel Römerstein is located on the western outskirts of the old city section of Mainz, and is near the Johannes Gutenberg University. This modest hotel offers basic single- and double-occupancy rooms with private baths. Some rooms feature French beds, and all rooms come with satellite television, mini-bar and desk or sitting area. Children up to 6 years stay for free with parents, and a breakfast buffet is included with any stay.
