Children's Summer Activities in Uvalde, Texas

There is plenty for kids to do in the summertime in Uvalde. Located in the beautiful Texas Hill Country, Uvalde celebrates a rich history filled with adventure, Indians, cowboys, outlaws and pioneers. Kids can take their pick of live performances, educational museum visits, nostalgic afternoons slurping old-fashioned ice cream sodas, swimming or just hanging out with friends and family at the local park and recreation center.

Swimming

Kids can cool off and swim for free at the Uvalde City Swimming Pool.

Kids can cool off and have a blast swimming at the town swimming pool. From June through August, the pool is open to the public Tuesdays through Sundays, from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Lifeguards are on duty during public pool hours, and the pool is available for private parties in May.

Aviation Museum at Garner Field

Kids can learn all about the history of aviation at the Aviation Museum.

Parents should take their young aviation enthusiast to the Aviation Museum at Garner Field to learn all about the history of aviation and see fascinating World War II exhibits. The museum is located in an original Garner Army Air Field hanger at the Uvalde Municipal Airport and is a non-profit organization.

Located at the corner of S. Wood and E. Garden Streets, the Sahawe Indian Outdoor Theater is a great place to bring the kids to learn about the history of Native American and Mexican Indians. With colorful costumes and exciting dances, this is a spectacle the whole family will enjoy.

With 18 surfaced tennis courts available 24 hours a day, your kids can always find fun playing tennis in Uvalde.

Parents can hand their kid a racket, and drop her off at one of Uvalde's 18 Laykold surfaced courts. Located on 2nd Street, just between the high school and junior high school, the courts are open 24 hours, seven days a week and are well-lighted.

Uvalde Memorial Park & Recreationanl Complex

There are many recreational opportunities for kids at Uvalde Memorial Park.

This beautiful park on the banks of the Leona River is ideal for picnics, basketball, volleyball, swimming or to see a show at the amphitheater. There is a large playground with modern playground equipment, fountains, walking trails and a covered pavilion to provide parents with plenty of shade while the little ones are playing.
