Campgrounds in Pinetop, Arizona

Pinetop, Arizona, is a small community in the state's White Mountains. The Sitgreave and Apache National Forests surround the region around Pinetop. You can find hiking trails, mountain biking routes, rock climbing and bouldering problems and skiing in the area. Tent camping is possible at the many camping areas and sites in the national forests, as well as private parks and campgrounds.

Bear Canyon Lake Campground

The Bear Canyon Lake Campground is in the Sitgreave National Forest and approximately 20 miles from Pinetop. The campground has tent sites that have picnic tables, fire rings and grills. Check with rangers prior to having any open fire to see if there are burn bans or firewood restrictions. Pets are allowed if leashed. Pit toilets are available. Bring your own water or a filtration system. You may fish in the lake but all anglers must have a valid Arizona fishing license and use artificial lures. You can access hiking and biking trails from the campgrounds. The campground is open seasonally between May and October.

Mogollon Campground

Mogollon Campground is another national forest camping area, with fresh water access and 26 tent sites. Tent sites have fire rings and grills and picnic tables. The campground is open seasonally between early May and October. The Rims Lake Vista Trail is accessible a half mile away. You may bring pets but they must remain leashed. Check with rangers prior to having open fires as there may be burn bans in effect. Mountain biking trails are within a mile of the campground.

Hon-Dah RV Resort

Hon-Dah RV Resort is primarily an RV resort but it can accommodate tent campers. Tent campers share sites with RVs. Hot showers and bathrooms, barbecue stations, a guest room and a laundry facility are on the premises. Pets are allowed but must be leashed and not be left unattended. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campground. There are hiking and biking trails, and rock climbing routes at the Sitgreaves and Apache National Forests.
