The upper peninsula of Michigan is home to several sightseeing attractions. The wilderness and variety of outdoor activities attracts many people to camp in this area of the state. Michigan is home to many parks and campgrounds in the upper peninsula so there are plenty of rental areas with an array of amenities to accommodate a variety of needs.

Wandering Wheels Campground

Just east of Munising in Michigan's Upper Peninsula is the Wandering Wheels Campground and RV Park. This RV park is close by to one of the first national lake shores in the United States---the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. This campground has more than 440 acres of woods and landscaped terrain so you can enjoy an open sunny site or a wooded, more shaded site. Wandering Wheels Campground offers an outdoor heated pool, mini-golf, playground, basketball court and bike rentals for their guests. Campers can select from electrical and water hookups or choose a rustic site. Enjoying the Michigan outdoors includes hitting the trails at the Hiawatha National Forest, Mountain biking at Bruno's Run or Valley Spur Trails or canoeing and fishing at the streams and lakes in the surrounding area. As of the 2010 season, rates start at $30.00 per night.

Michihistrigan

Michihistrigan resort and campground offers pull-through RV sites and a recreation area. Located 65 miles west of the Mackinac Bridge, Michihistrigan is centrally located near other Upper Peninsula attractions such as the Seney National Wildlife Refuge and the Seul Choix Lighthouse on Lake Michigan. Michihistrigan has spring-fed trout ponds for catch and release fishing, and 18-hole miniature golf course and off-season snowmobiling trails. Hunting is also available nearby making it a hot spot for those who hunt deer and small game. A family-owned restaurant called the Farmhouse is on site.

Big Cedar Campground

Big Cedar Campground offers a minimum of 25 x 65 feet for RV pull-throughs, allowing it to accommodate even the largest rigs. With more than 50 sites, Big Cedar Campground has plenty of room for privacy. It is located on the Manistique River but offers canoeing (including canoe livery) and kayaking through the Seney National Wildlife Refuge and the Fox River. You'll also find a playground, basketball court, badminton and gathering pavilion.
