The city of Franklin, named after Benjamin Franklin, is located in the southwestern corner of Ohio near the Great Miami River. Along the Great Miami River runs the 29.5-mile Great Miami River Recreation Trail. Horace M. Huffman Jr., who inherited his father's bicycle business, Huffy Corporation, helped spearhead the beginning 8.2 miles of bikeway of the Great Miami River Recreation Trail. Just 20 miles away is The Beach Waterpark, a tropical oasis with white sand and palm trees. It includes more than 50 water rides.

Holiday Inn Express Hotel & Suites-Franklin is located off Interstate 75 and has easy access to Caesar Creek State Park, just 14 miles away. The park has 43 miles of hiking trails and eight miles of biking trails. The park also has a 1,200-foot beach, fishing and boating activities.

American cuisine with favorites such as Caesar salad, seafood entrees and steaks is served in the Orchids at Palm Court, and reservations are recommended. Locals choose the oversized sandwiches and hamburgers with melting bleu cheese at the Rookwood Pottery Bistro, a former pottery factory.
