Lou's Restaurant and Bakery is the most popular breakfast spot in Hanover. Lou's serves diner-style egg-and-pancake breakfasts. The Bagel Basement
The Bagel Basement serves bagels and breakfast sandwiches all day. In addition to the traditional bagel and cream cheese, a variety of flavored cream cheeses are available such as garlic herb and sun-dried tomato basil. Bagel sandwiches can be built to order with egg, cheese and smoked salmon. Adventurous souls can tackle the Heart Attack sandwich featuring egg, sausage, ham bacon and cheese. The breakfast burrito is prepared with two eggs, cheese, chilies and salsa.

Umpleby's Bakery is run by Charles and Carolyn Umpleby in downtown Hanover, near Dartmouth College. It offers a range of enticing pastries, making the effort to use local and organic ingredients when possible. Menu offerings include eclairs, chocolate, almond and plain croissants, raspberry brioche and maple almond brioche. Savory bakery items on offer include egg and roast vegetable tarts, egg and sausage tarts and quiche homemade doughnuts served on Sunday mornings.
