The ancient city of Polonnaruwa in Sri Lanka's north-central province attracts both local and foreign tourists for its beauty, archaeological relics, wildlife and nature. The city's hotels can arrange hiking, biking and other types of tours. UNESCO deemed Polonnaruwa a World Heritage Site in 1982.
