Windsor, Vt., is a charming historic town close to the winter resort of Ascutney, which offers downhill and cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, tubing, spas and activities for outdoor enthusiasts of all ages and skill levels. There are a number of motels in the area that offer inexpensive accommodation while still providing the comforts of home and modern amenities.

The Windsor Motel

The Windsor Motel has comfortable rooms and small separate cabins for those who want more room or for larger parties of guests. The cabins are fitted with a dinette, coffee maker, microwave and fridge. Pets are welcome for an additional fee. Amenities include free wireless Internet throughout the property, cable TV and DVD player, complimentary local phone calls, fax and photocopier, safe, iron and board, and crib and rollaway beds. There is no special ski storage available on site, but the motel does offer a weekday special on lift tickets.

The Windsor Motel is near the Windsor market and close to the town's various local restaurants and shops, which cater to a wide variety of tastes and budgets.

The Yankee Village Motel

Located only three miles from Ascutney, the Yankee Village Motel offers an economical choice for visitors interested in hitting the slopes of Ascutney Ski Resort or hiking the trails. Nestled in a grove of towering pine trees, the Yankee Village Motel has 20 guestrooms decorated in earth tones. Rooms are furnished with either a king bed or two queen beds, and each has a microwave and refrigerator. Amenities include in-room high-speed wireless Internet access, cable or satellite TV. The nearest restaurant is the Windsor Station Pub, which offers fine dining and drinks at reasonable prices.

The Claremont Motor Lodge

The Claremont Motor Lodge is across the border in New Hampshire in Clarement. The accommodation is clean and offers 40 rooms. Rooms with kitchenettes are available and come complete with refrigerators, microwaves and coffee/tea makers. Bathrooms include shower/tub combinations and hair dryers. Each room contains wireless Internet, TV, refrigerator, microwave and a guest kit with essential toiletries such as toothpaste and pain relief tablets. The hotel provides a free continental breakfast, free on-site parking and a business service. There are over 20 local restaurants in Claremont from which to choose, and most are a short distance away in the town center.
