Franklin, Tennessee, a Nashville suburb, offers visitors access to several recreational areas, including the Natchez Trace Parkway. This 18th century, forested thoroughfare stretches from Natchez, Mississippi to Nashville and is home to the six-mile Garrison Creek Loop hiking trail, approximately 10 minutes west of Franklin. Franklin is also situated on the Antebellum Trail, which has campgrounds and cycling trails. While visiting this southern town, check out one of Franklin's barbecue restaurants.

BB's BBQ

BB's BBQ is situated on Highway 96, a highway that provides quick access to hiking trails at Stones River Park, approximately 25 minutes east of restaurant. This locally owned restaurant has a casual atmosphere and rustic exterior and interior decorations. BB's BBQ is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner every day of the week. The breakfast menu at BB's BBQ includes BB's Burrito plate, which includes scrambled eggs and hash browns, while the barbecues platters include ribs & pulledpork and beef brisket. Bar-B-Cutie

Located on Murfreesboro Road, Bar-B-Cutie is less than a mile from Interstate 65, which provides quick access to the hiking trails at Radnor Lake. The lake is less than 30 minutes north of Franklin. This national chain barbecue restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere and is open for lunch and dinner every day. The lunch menu at Bar-B-Cutie features smoked sausage and baby back ribs, while the dinner menu includes platters such as the hickory smoked sliced beef brisket and mesquite chicken. Bar-B-Cutie has catering and take-out services. Other Bar-B-Cutie locations in the Greater Nashville area include Bellevue, Brentwood and Murfreesboro.

Mickey Roo's

Mickey Roo's, on Hillsboro Road, is an ideal place to stop after cycling on the Brentwood Bikeway Connecter Trail, approximately 10 miles north of Franklin. This Texas-themed, bar-style restaurant has rustic décor and memorabilia spread throughout the restaurant, such as longhorn heads mounted on the wall. Mickey Roo's is open for lunch and dinner seven days a week with a menu that features platters such as the Texas Two Step, a choice of two meats, and the No Bull Chicken. Dessert items include banana pudding and the Texas Tornado, which is a large brownie with ice cream. Mickey Roo's features live entertainment throughout the week, including karaoke and open mic nights.
