Parks in King County, Washington
King County in western Washington incorporates an award-winning parks division overseeing 25,000 acres worth of land. The parks are located throughout the county in such diverse regions as SeaTac, Seattle and Bellevue. Within the King County parks, there are 175 miles of regional trails and 130 miles of hiking trails.

Marymoor Park

Located in Redmond, Marymoor is a 640-acre park that features numerous activities throughout the year. For pet lovers, there is a 40-acre dog park, giving plenty of space for your dog to play. Next to the dog park is the Pet Garden, a memorial for local pets. Throughout the park are various facilities for sports such as baseball diamonds, soccer fields and basketball courts. These facilities are where numerous youth and adult leagues play throughout the year. During the summer, the 5,000-capacity concert venue at Marymoor hosts a multitude of major musicians. Past artists have included Elvis Costello, Death Cab for Cutie and the Decemberists. During the summer months, Marymoor hosts a movie night featuring classic films that can be enjoyed by families. Hours for the park are 8 a.m. until dusk. Authorized activities are allowed to continue after dusk.

Cougar Mountain Regional Wildland Park

Outside the city of Bellevue is Cougar Mountain, a King County park well known for its wildlife habitat and breathtaking views. With more than 3,115 acres available, Cougar Mountain is perfect for hikers, including more than 36 miles of trails for outdoor enthusiasts. For equestrians, there are 12 miles of trails made specifically for them. If you live in the Seattle area and are looking for an area to hike, this is the place to go. The Cougar Mountain Zoo is located within the park as well. Hours for the park are 8 a.m. to dusk.

Tolt-MacDonald Park and Campground

Located in Carnation, this 574-acre park is ideal for families looking for a place to picnic. The grounds have various sports fields for youth and adult sports leagues or even for those looking to play a pickup game. In the fall, the spawning salmon appear throughout the creeks in this region. The picnic areas can be reserved for personal events. Camping is available for those wishing to stay the night. Throughout the park are various trails and hiking opportunities.
